More than 20 years ago, I was walking up the driveway to a stone house. This one had beautiful blue shutters. I was coming to visit someone wishing to get a valuation. I fell in love with this place and said it so loud that the owner gave up on the idea of selling it!
We became friends. I often go back there. The only thing that has changed is the shutters' color. Sometimes he says he wants to leave, but he is only planning to do it. If he decided to, and if I was certain that he would not have any regrets, I would tell him I may have found his new dream, not far away from his place, in a village in the Valois area. But what is the use of changing, if he feels happy? For there is nothing more important than achieving a dream.
When asked to sell or find a property, I know it is a life's essential project. I will be told about family and friends, I will hear their laughs, I will see the fruit tree that will grow here. I know it will be about hapiness.
And how important this decision will be.
For more than 20 years, I have felt the same emotions walking through the Automne valley, the Vexin regional park or the Champ de Mars in Paris, and discovering a Haussmanniann apartment or a private mansion near Trocadero.
If I ring the bell, if I knock on the window, I want to meet with new pieces of life, and I love the hapiness that is sharing them with other people.
This month, my meetings lead me to the heart of the city of Senlis, in a house dating from the XVIIth century, then in an equestrian property, in a renaissance-style chateau in Vexin, in a former hunting property nestled in the Halatte woods.
And I do not forget this little manor that needs to be renovated. Soon, here and there, there will be new laughs, new faces, new friends - and, why not, young fruit trees...
My only wish is to see them again in 20 years.
